When the 2025 Ram 1500 debuted without a HEMI® V8 engine, enthusiasts and owners across LaPorte County made their voices heard. Thankfully, the 2026 Ram 1500 returns to glory by offering the iconic 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 with up to 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque.
Tradesman, Express, Warlock, Big Horn, Laramie, and Rebel models (with late availability) can upgrade to the 5.7-liter HEMI® V8. 2026 Ram 1500 Limited and Longhorn models offer the 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 as a no-cost option, replacing the High-Output 3.0-liter Hurricane engine.
When properly equipped, the 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 offers up to 11,470 pounds of maximum towing capacity or up to 1,750 pounds of maximum payload capacity. Key features that enhance the 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 include:
- eTorque hybrid system — Replaces the traditional alternator with a belt-driven motor generator unit and 48-volt battery pack. eTorque can deploy up to 130 pound-feet of torque at throttle tip-in and between gear changes.
- Variable-Valve Timing — Adjusts camshaft timing to provide smooth torque output, a wide power band, and reduced engine noise at idle.
- Fuel Saver Technology — Uses intelligent cylinder deactivation to improve fuel efficiency when cruising at a consistent speed down I-90 or US-35.
- Pulse Width Modulation — Allows the 850-watt electric cooling fan to adjust power draw to match the amount of cooling needed.
Ram 1500 Express and Black Express Package
Honoring the original Ram Express pickup truck, the 2026 Ram 1500 Express delivers a value-focused package. Shoppers can choose from Crew Cab or Quad Cab configurations with available four-wheel drive and up to four paint colors. Express models come with 20-inch wheels, black-bezel LED headlamps, enhanced driver-assistance programs, and a 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 engine.
