If you love cars like we do at La Porte Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, than you've already seen the first five movies in the Fast and Furious franchise. With the sixth installment coming soon, it's always fun to scrounge up information on the vehicles used in the films, and which ones make it out okay after action-packed explosions and high-speed chases. Thankfully, there were two that we have a particular affinity for that made it without incident.
And those would be?
The Dodge Challenger SRT and Charger SRT.
Fast and Furious 6 used between 300 and 400 cars throughout filming, and the two Dodge muscle cars where among nine left standing. Yes, nine. What is interesting is that the man who gears the vehicles up for the big screen, Dennis McCarthy, actually seeks out fixer-uppers, and even some that others might think can't be restored.
That's because McCarthy heavily modifies these vehicles to perform the impressive stunts, and it's not a huge investment. With the Dodge Challenger, however, not much needed to be done because it's a new edition. Locking differentials were added, along with a big e-brake handle for some drifting, but that's about it. The Charger has a bit more mods on it, including a winch mounted on the back for a very crazy scene, we're sure.
Either way, we're just happy both the Challenger and Charger are in the film, and made it out in working order.
