This past February, RAM Trucks announced plans to create the first-ever light-duty pickup truck powered by a diesel engine. Always one to stay true to its word, the brand has officially introduced the 2014 RAM 1500 light-duty pickup, featuring the same 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 also found in the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The new 3.0-liter engine offers 240 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque, which may seem a bit short to Hemi and V-8 fanatics, however RAM assures that it offers nearly the same towing capacity as the brand's 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 with the added benefit of excellent fuel economy. The exact fuel efficiency  ratings have yet to be released though as soon as we find out, you can expect to read about it here on our blog.

TheV-6  EcoDiesel will be an added option to the new RAM 1500 and will be priced at $2,850. The 2014 RAM model's starting price is set to come in at $25,395, including its destination fee, or $24,200 without it.

The diesel engine isn't the only optional engine offered on the light-duty vehicle as well. Joining the powertrain selection is a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine and a Pentastar V6 engine. No matter which engine you choose, all will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The new RAM 1500 is scheduled to arrive at out La Porte area dealership sometime this fall. As mentioned earlier, we will be sure to update you as more information regarding the light-duty truck comes forth here on our blog.
