The legendary Jeep Cherokee is slated to make a comeback after being retired at the beginning of the century. Scheduled to replace the Jeep Liberty for 2014, this iconic nameplate packs a whole new look which many believe will pave the future of crossover SUV design.

The new Jeep Cherokee comes with a 3.2-liter V6 Pentastar engine capable of generating 271 horsepower and 239 lb.-ft. of torque. That is enough to tow 4,500 pounds! It will also be 45% more efficient than the current Liberty, achieving an estimated 31 mpg on the highway.

What is the goal for re-introducing this uniquely-designed vehicle to the market? Many believe it is to capture greater position in the CUV category. Liberty sales were steadily declining in this segment over the last few years and the new Cherokee should help turn things around. Mike Manley, CEO of the Jeep brand, explains, "We have had a very small share of that segment. What we have done is to produce a vehicle that is very, very capable of regaining segment share for us."1

A "Trailhawk" trim of the new Cherokee will be available for those looking for off-road-ready features including skid plates, wider fender flairs and all-terrain tires, and red front tow hooks.

Pricing has yet to be posted for the new Cherokee. We suspect it will be released around the vehicles production date which is scheduled for May 23, 2013.  Visit La Porte Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM today located at 1309 Pine Lake Road La Porte, IN to learn more about the 2014 Cherokee and to take other new Jeep models out for a test drive.  We'll also keep you updated as more information comes out regarding the new Cherokee here on our blog.
